Muslim Northern Women is an award-winning youth-led collective of Muslim women and girls in Manchester building power and organising to dismantle Islamophobia and systems rooted in oppression.

After 2 years of operating as a student society, we are now entering a new era of growth from October 2024. Our small team will be re-evaluating our purpose and space in the community organising sector to ensure our new strategy effectively builds power with and wins change for Muslim women and girls in Manchester and, more widely, Northern England.

Please note that during this time of reflection and evaluation, our collective capacity will be limited and we will therefore not be taking on any new work until April 2025.

We will be announcing our new strategy, which will accompany an updated website, by March 2025!

We are a place-based collective dedicated to lived-experience practices.

We believe in a place-based approach to building power, organising and dismantling systems of oppression to create sustainable systemic change which targets systemic injustices, such as Islamophobia, at the root. This is why we operate in Manchester with the aim of expanding our work across the North of England.

Our commitment to anti-racist and care-centred approaches.

Key to our mission is to collaboratively organise our local Northern communities to collectively dismantle Islamophobia and systems that perpetuate the oppression of Muslims in order to foster true solidarity and belonging.

Muslim Northern Women is unapologetically motivated and guided by the Islamic values of justice, kindness, honesty, forgiveness, wisdom, solidarity, anti-racism and community-centred approaches to organising.

Our dedication to community organising and collaborative working.

We are committed to community organising and working in partnership with individual organisers and educators, collectives, campaigns, organisations, funders, public bodies and schools that are committed to building community power, dismantling Islamophobia and winning change for Muslim women and girls.
